Canadian Ice Service Operations comprises a team of dedicated analysts and forecasters that use the latest satellite remote sensing technology to track sea ice, icebergs and oil spills in Canadian waters. If you are passionate about remote sensing, supporting federal agencies domestically and internationally, and working in a collaborative operational environment, we invite you to be part of our team! The position consists of using a geographical information system (GIS) to interpret different satellite-based images (visible, infrared, and synthetic aperture radar (SAR)) to identify and analyze sea and lake ice. In addition, the analyst monitors Canadian waters for potential illegal pollution discharges and provides reports to responding agencies. The position also involves collaborating with, and participating in, scientific and technical research as a technician.Analysts work on
