The High School Graduation Coach will work under the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) department, specifically under the direction of the Career Development Coordinator. The position will provide some academic support, but the primary focus will be on career guidance for grade 10-12 students. Additionally, this position will be responsible for offering programming for students in areas such as academics, career development, transitions, culture, and leadership. In this position, a key responsibility is to work closely with the Coordinator of Career Development, the Principal of the School, the staff, students, and parents to ensure students' academic and career success..As an employee in the organization, the High School Graduation Coach will model the intent of the Maskwacs Declaration on Education and the core values of Wahkohtowin, Iyiniw Mamotohnehickikan , Nehiyaw Pimatisiwin , and Nehiyawewin .Responsibilities: The High School Graduation Coach is responsible to the Coordinator of Career Development.The High School Graduation Coach will have specific responsibilities for:Academic and Career Development Student Support Provide some academic support, but primarily career development. It is the responsibility of the Graduation Coach to provide academic assistance to students and to refer them to the appropriate support services within the school.Monitor and track the academic progress of grade 10-12 students. Refer at-risk students who do not perform well academically to appropriate school services and supports.Support students in grade 10-12 with both individual and group career counseling and guidance.Create a career plan for each student in grade 10-12.Assist in the course selection process to ensure that students in grades 10-12 are on track to graduate and their high school courses align with their career goals.Organize, coordinate, plan, and facilitate academic and career-related presentations for all students at Maskwacis Outreach School.Coordinate tutoring support for students at Maskwacis Outreach School.Program Development and Delivery Develop, implement, and facilitate lunch and afterschool programs that address academics, career opportunities, culture, leadership, and transitions.Create programs and services that are Indigenous-focused to enable students to gain a deeper understanding of their culture and identity.Consult with the school's principal, staff, students, and parents to determine what type of programs are needed.Management and Reporting Managing programs, resources, and the budget for the program.Provide daily reports on student participation and engagement.Report on the program's activities and progress at the end of each school year.Relationship Building Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, families, and community organizations.Liaise and collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and student service support staff.Qualifications A diploma or degree in education, social work, or an equivalent degree is required. Degree is preferred. Certification in career development is also acceptable.At least 2-3 years of experience working with Indigenous youthProvide a Criminal Record and Child Welfare CheckMust have own transportationWorking Conditions Travel may be required.May be required to work after school hours for student programs.Knowledge and Skills Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skillsAble to present and facilitate sessionsExcellent organizational and time management skillsAttention to detail and able to prioritize tasks efficientlyStrong computer skills and proficiency in using Google Applications and CANVACulturally sensitive to Indigenous people, their history, and their community
