Job details
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Mountain driving expertise. Load and unload goods. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform emergency roadside repairs. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Air Brakes Endorsement. DZ class license. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Documentation knowledge: Driver logbook. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Dump truck. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Long-haul. National. Provincial/territorial. Regional. Short-haul. Security and safety: Valid passport. Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Medical exam. Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle. Valid driver's licence.
