Job Summary: <p>Under the direction of the Supervisor of Facilities Systems Maintenance, the Life Safety Technician/Electricians primary responsibility is for the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution systems including electrical, electronic and electrical-mechanical equipment, as well as the installation and verification of life safety systems devices in accordance with Board policies and procedures, relevant regulations, codes and best practices in a safe and effective manner. <p>Required Skills and Qualifications: Minimum Licensed 309 A Journeyman Electrician Construction and Maintenance<p> Valid CFAA Technician Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year (employer supported training if do not currently have certification)<p> 1 to 3 years previous related and/or on the job experience in an electrical maintenance capacity for facility power supply, distribution, and lighting up to at least 600V in a commercial/industrial setting, as well as security/alarm systems and panels, P.A. systems, and emergency lighting<p> Ability to troubleshoot and improve installed electrical equipment/infrastructure<p> Ability to install/replace electrical equipment/infrastructure.<p> Ability to utilize drawings, electrical schematics, and documents as part of performing work.<p> Experience using electronic Work Management Systems (CMMS, Work Order System, etc.) for documentation of work performed and data collection.<p> Ability to use computers and electronic devices for communication and documentation.<p> Must be compliant with health and safety guidelines<p> Knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments<p> Good interpersonal skills in dealing with adolescents and the general public.<p> Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<p> Valid Ontario Driver's License, Class G with clean abstract<p> Standard First Aid Certification, CPR certification <p>Why Work for Us: Paid vacation time<p> Robust benefit plan including health and dental benefits<p> Enrolment in OMERS pension plan<p> Use of company vehicle for board business<p> All tools for on-the-job work are provided by the board<p> Uniform is provided <p>Accessibility accommodations are available for all parts of the recruitment process upon request.<p>Accommodation queries should be directed to the Human Resources Department at hr@smcdsb.on.ca.<p>Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.As a condition of employment, new employees to SMCDSB are required, by legislation,<p>to submit a satisfactory Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is deeply committed to promoting Truth, Reconciliation and the rights of Indigenous peoples, Human Rights, Equity and Anti-Racism, and the elimination of Oppressive Practices, in our schools, our workplace and in the communities we serve.
