*Position: *Marketing Manager

*Reports to: *Director of Operations
*Wage range:* $70,000 - $75,000 Salary
*Position Requirements:*
The Marketing Department Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, content creation, community engagement, digital marketing, brand management, crisis communication, research and analysis, and team leadership. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of current marketing trends and tools.
The Marketing Manager will adhere to all health and safety regulations, legislations, and policies.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Develop and Implement Communication Strategies:*
* Design and execute comprehensive communication plans aimed at improving and evolving the public perception of the zoo.
* Oversee the creation of engaging and informative content for various platforms, including the zoo?s website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
* Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media.
* Act as the primary media contact for the zoo, handling media inquiries, and preparing press releases, statements, and media kits.
*Content Creation and Management:*
* Oversee the creation of engaging and informative content for various platforms, including the zoo?s website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
* Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
*Community Engagement:*
* Develop and implement outreach programs to engage the local community and stakeholders.
* Organize and participate in community events and other activities to promote the zoo's initiatives
*Digital Marketing:*
* Manage search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) efforts to increase online visibility.
* Develop and execute social media strategies to engage with the audience and build a strong online presence.
* Oversee the creation and distribution of valuable, relevant content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience.
*Brand Management:*
* Develop and maintain the company's brand strategy to ensure consistent messaging and positioning.
* Oversee the creation of marketing materials that promote the brand, including brochures, advertisements, and digital content.
*Crisis Communication:*
* Develop and execute crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate any potential public relations issues.
* Provide timely and effective communication during emergencies or unexpected events.
*Research and Analysis:*
* Conduct research to identify public perception and communication needs.
* Analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
* Research and analyze guest profiles to understand demographics, preferences, and behaviors.
*Team Leadership and Development:*
* Lead and manage a team of marketing professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
* Identify training needs and opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and performance.
* Engage with local communities and stakeholders to build positive relationships and promote the zoo's new initiatives and improvements.
*Accountability:*
The Marketing Manager is a management role, responsible for upholding the brand of the Greater Vancouver Zoo and ensures a safe, enriching and rewarding experience for zoo visitors; serves as mentor for supervisors and marketing staff, and volunteers. The Marketing Manager performs specified support functions to the Director of Operations.
*Knowledge and Experience:*
A minimum of five years of experience in the marketing field with at least three years in a managerial role. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies. Strong understanding of digital marketing, SEO, social media, and content marketin
