Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Government department and/or agency. Home care and visiting care agency. Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Nursing home/home for the aged. Rehabilitation centre and special health institution. Chronic or long-term care facilities/centres. Public or community health centre. Tasks: Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Intravenous (IV) therapy Certification. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Area of specialization: Geriatrics. Intensive care. Intensive care, nursery. Medical unit. Drug addiction.
