Schedule and confirm appointments. Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Order supplies and equipment. Organize and maintain inventory. Collect blood, tissue or other samples from patients. Manage staff and assign duties. Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care. Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues. Interview clients, prepare case histories and assess problems. Help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits and reshape their approach to wellness. Coordinate patient care. Collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals. Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team.
