The Adams Lake Indian Band is looking for an outstanding Director of Education. The Adams Lake Indian Band is situated near Chase and 57 Km east of Kamloops., BC.The Director is responsible for the Adams Lake Indian Bands Education Programs and supports the Early Childhood Education initiatives. The Education programs include Kindergarten to grade 12, and Post Secondary support programs and community education initiatives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures;<p> Manages and leads all staff of the Education Department in relation to recruitment, hiring, training, performance management and discipline. <p> Prepares and manages the Department Budget and oversees the budget planning process of Chief Atahm School<p> Develops, administers and maintains an operational budget for the Education Department and multiple educational and training related programs;<p> Develops and Implements a Community Education Plan.<p> Directs, manages, leads and develops innovative effective programs in partnership with stakeholders (Chief Atahm, School Districts, Post Secondary Institutions Community Members, FNESC, etc.);<p> Develops and implements evaluation programs that include measurable critical success factors;<p> Develops and implements community needs assessments;<p> Leads and promotes clear consistent expectations that focus on successful outcomes for all learners of ALIB;<p> Researches and develops proposals for funding programs and projects;<p> Builds relationships and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance delivery of services to community;<p> Acts as the representative on behalf of ALIB in matters relating to the education of our community members; <p> Manages, promotes and administers Training and Employment Programs; and<p> Performs other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS A recognized undergraduate university degree in:<p> Education, Early Learning, Public Administration, or related field. <p> Valid BC Teaching Certificate is essential<p> Masters degree would be an asset<p> Knowledge and understanding of Secwepemc culture and language desirable<p> Knowledge of Federal & Provincial Education policies and funding in K-12, Post Secondary programs.<p> Knowledge of policies and funding including BC Aboriginal Childcare Society and Indigenous Services Canada programs.<p> Knowledgeable of BC Tripartite Education (BCTEA) and Local Education Agreements with school districts<p> Knowledge and experience in community development, strategic planning, and collaborative with team members<p> Demonstrate effective leadership, supervisory, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills when working with employees and community members. <p> Must be self-directed and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.<p> Possesses a wide variety of knowledge relating to computer applications and functions, including financial software<p> Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills <p>OTHER REQUIREMENTS <p>Criminal records check with vulnerable sector - results acceptable to ALIB;<p>Valid Class 5 Drivers LicenseTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT <p>Permanent Full Time Position<p>Wage $87,000 to $130,000.00, depending on education and experience<p>Hours per week: up to 75 hours biweekly (max 37.5 hrs./week) <p>WHY US? <p>We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined contribution pension scheme, health, vision, and dental coverage, LTD, AD&D, and Life insurance and an employee assistance program.
