Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Confined spaces. Wet/damp. Noisy. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Install sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipe in supports. Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe. Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment. Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fire protection equipment, using hand and power tools. Installs valves, alarms and associated equipment. Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment. Service and repair sprinkler system. Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment. Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system. Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines. Install supports, valves, piping and control systems. Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size. Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system. Test system for leaks using testing equipment. Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Driver's License. Screening questions: Are you available for shift or on-call work?. Are you currently legally able to work in Canada?. Do you have previous experience in this field of employment?. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Does not require Canadian work experience. Support for Veterans: Supports Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market . Offers flexible onboarding options to allow Veterans to gradually adapt to the civilian workplace (for example: gradually increasing hours and responsibilities, etc.) . Support for Indigenous people: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers .
