Job details
AWG Northern Industries is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Financial Controller reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting operations of AWG Northern Industries and affiliate companies.
Duties including but not limited to:
Management
* Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
* Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including setting and achieving department's goals and objectives
* Oversee the accounting operations, accounting staff, transaction-processing operations, control policies and procedures.
*Transactions*
1. Reconciling accounts
2. Posting journal entries
3. Maintaining general ledgers
4. Preparing Bank reconciliations
5. GST and PST filing
6. Capital assets listings
7. Preparing working paper files and ad-hoc reporting.
8. Monthly financial reporting
9. Bank Account reconciliations
10. Preparing deposits and journal entries
11. Coding & Entering Invoices
Reporting
* Timely issuance of monthly financial statements
* Coordinate and issue ad-hoc financial and management reports
* Provide financial analysis as needed in regard to capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Compliance
* Coordinate and prepare year end information to external auditors for the annual audit
* Bank debt covenants
* Comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
*Additional Information*
The successful candidate will have:
* Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business or other related field
* Hold a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
* Prior experience in a controllership or public accounting role is preferred
* Prior experience in/related with the construction, renovation or building verticals industries would be an asset
* Strong computer skills including a superior understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel is required
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains is desirable
* Exceptional organizational skills and precise attention to detail are essential
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Strong team player; motivated self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision to provide consistent and reliable results
