The City is now seeking an Operations Manager to lead the team responsible for maintenance of the City?s roads, bridges, sidewalks, street and traffic lights, parks and open spaces and cemetery.
As Operations Manager, you prioritize safety first and then service delivery. You recognize your direct responsibility for the safety of the people within your sphere of influence and will be expeditious in identifying, assessing and addressing safety issues. This not only demonstrates your commitment to your team but provides the opportunity to demonstrate that you are committed to the standards you have established.
Next to safety, you recognize that your mandate will be to meet or exceed the customer service delivery standards and strategic imperatives set out by the City. You are prepared to address quality and delivery issues while keeping a keen eye out for opportunities to find efficiencies. You are curious to learn what customers really need and value from the services the City provides.
Education and Experience
* Graduate of a three-year Civil Engineering Technology program from a recognized Community College with or ability to obtain C.E.T. certification for O.A.C.E.T.T.
* Successful completion of applicable Ontario Ministry of Transportation Road Schools or Ontario Good Roads Certified Road Supervisor (CRS) designation, Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) and Playground Inspector (CPPI).
* Sector specific Health and Safety Certification or willingness to obtain.
* 5+ years of progressive supervisory/management experience in a unionized, municipal setting.
* Have and maintain a valid class ?G? license.
* Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching experience to foster a supportive work culture to build a diverse, creative, and dedicated staff team.
* Sound knowledge and experience of municipal budget planning, forecasting and monitoring.
