Located in the heart of Uptown New Westminster, McCormack and Company Law Corporation (MCLC) is a boutique law firm with a practice based primarily in the dynamic area of strata law. We are a modern office taking advantage of technology to streamline our work.
MCLC is a member of Wilson McCormack Law Group (WMLG), an association of law corporations. Our other member of WMLG has an office based in Nanaimo.
*About the Position*
MCLC has an opportunity available for an experienced LAA to join our team to help us provide our high-quality services to clients throughout British Columbia.
At MCLC, you will be working on our team with three lawyers of varying experience to handle the day-to-day legal affairs of the office. A large amount of the non-legal work is performed by our office manager.
Responsibilities include:
· Electronic file management, including opening, maintaining and closing them
· Producing legal documents, including preliminary drafts of correspondence and Court/Tribunal forms and pleadings
· Filing Court/Tribunal documents through an agent but primarily online, arranging for service of filed documents
· Preparing binders for Court/Tribunal appearances
· Utilizing a bring forward (BF) system to ensure deadlines are complied with
· Interacting with clients personally, and by phone, email and videoconference
· Reception work is limited to the few times a month when a client attends the office
· Management of incoming and outgoing mail, arranging for incoming and outgoing couriers
· Processing retainer and invoice payments
· Entering your time spent on files, as well as entering disbursements on PCLaw
· Supporting the lawyers as needed
Required qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant Program
· At least three years of experience as an LAA
Required skills:
· Proficient computer skills with programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, PCLaw and PDF-editing programs
· Experience performing searches, retrieving documents and submitting filings with LTSA, BC OnLine and other registries
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills
· Detail-oriented
· Works efficiently on a team
· Willingness to learn and perform new job-related practices and procedures that evolve over time
Preferred skills:
· Experience in strata law and/or wills and estates law would be an asset

Salary: $60,000.00+ per year, commensurate with experience
