We are seeking a medical office assistant to join our team. This position is vacant due to the retirement of a long-time employee. As one of 3 MOAs in the team you will provide administrative support to 3 Internal Medicine Specialists in a clinical setting. Preference will be given to local applicants.
Hours will be approximately 30/hrs per week, Monday to Friday with some flexibility in the scheduling however there will be times when you maybe required to work additional hours (up to 40) to cover staff vacation days.
You must have recent experience in a medical office setting and ideally experience working for specialists. You should possess a professional attitude, a great work ethic and commitment to the highest level of care to the patients.
You should enjoy working closely in a small team and understand the need for active participation and collaboration to foster a positive and healthy team environment.
You should also be confident working independently, using your initiative, sound judgement, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
You will be required to multi-task, work under pressure at times while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, excellent attention to detail and an ability to prioritize your workload.
You understand and practice strict confidentiality protocols.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
* Providing reception duties (e.g. greeting patients, taking vitals as required, answering telephone calls, emails, sending detailed messages and completing complex tasks accurately and efficiently. Book follow up appointments and tests for patients, send out referrals).
* Book consults, explain and order required tests for patients, assist with patient reminders for medical imaging appointments, lab work etc as needed.
* Update and maintain records in the EMR requiring accurate data entry skills.
* Manage referrals & physician's waitlists.
* Liaise with allied medical professionals as needed.
* Complete and submit MSP billing and private invoicing.
* Order and restock supplies in medical rooms, maintain general organization and cleanliness in clinic.
Preferred qualifications/experience:
Experience in a medical office setting preferably in a specialist's office and/or experience with Plexia EMR. Billing experience is a bonus however training will be provided.
MOA diploma is an asset.
Good keyboarding skills with competency working with Microsoft Office programs (Windows, Excel, Outlook and electronic medical records).
Familiarity with medical terminology an asset.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
