People like you!This is computer support work in the provision of computer user support and assistance in the operation and maintenance of a large department?s computer applications systems. The Client Support Assistant responds to user calls and enquiries; investigates, documents and resolves software and hardware problems; refers major and unresolved problems to other technical staff or vendors and follows up to ensure issues are resolved. The incumbent creates and maintains system configuration files for new hardware development; drafts procedures and user guidelines and provides training and technical assistance to systems users and relief staff and identifies limitations. Performs administration including review of system transaction reports and reconciles errors; updates systems tables, creates new GL accounts, sets up and inactivates user and client accounts, passwords, name changes and updates fee tables. Furthermore, the Client Support Assistant develops and produces a variety of standard and non-standard cost and progress reports; compiles and analyses statistical data manually or using computer software; provides input and makes recommendations based on data collected; and enters and maintains data as required. In this role, you will also assist in receipt, inventory, installation, configuration and basic testing of new equipment; arrange for repair, replacement or retirement of equipment; contact vendors regarding equipment repair; prepare related documentation and update inventory databases. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by computer applications courses plus sound related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of the methods, principles and practices used in maintaining, and determining causes of failures, in computer systems and software; of departmental system operations, organization and procedures and of applicable departmental policies, practices, rules and regulations. Working knowledge of methods, principles, practices and procedures in operating and maintaining computer equipment and related applications. The incumbent will have the ability to develop computer reports and documentation for end users and system administrators; to investigate and document hardware and software problems and correct those routine in nature, and to train and instruct users and relief staff. Ability to liaise with and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; to make decisions in accordance with applicable policies, practices, rules and regulations and to perform assigned duties under general supervision. Furthermore, the Client Support Assistant will have the ability to prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and documents and have skill in the operation of the computer equipment related to the work. A Driver?s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.Please apply online by July 11, 2024.
