Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Work setting: Barbershop or hairstyling salon/studio. Tasks: Advise clients on beauty care treatments. Analyze hair and scalp condition. Book appointments. Cut and trim hair according to client's instructions or preferences. Provide custom hair and scalp treatment. Shampoo customers' hair. Shave and trim beards and mustaches. Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages. Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair. Clean and style wigs and hair pieces. Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair. Suggest hair style compatible with client's physical features and preferences. Hair styling techniques: Blow drying. Hair braiding. Iron waving/curling. Twisting. Roller setting. Hair colouring techniques: Bleach. Dyes/tints. Streaking/highlights. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees.
