*Overview:*
Hotel Metro is currently seeking a Front Desk Manager for our Premium Boutique Hotel in Downtown London. Applicants must be professional, personable and must have a keen eye for details.
Our team is expected to work in a fast paced environment, carry on conversations with guests from all over the world and work well with computers, spreadsheets and word processing software. We are looking for someone to focus on the guest experience at the Front Desk and work with the General Manager with administrative tasks.
This is a full time Monday - Friday 7:30 am ? 3:30 pm position that may include afternoon or weekend shifts depending on the team?s needs. This is the perfect placement for someone looking to gain more experience in a growing, fast pace environment.
*Main Duties:*
· Perform and supervise tasks and duties during the working shifts to maximize on productivity and guest service by following proper policies and procedures.
· Communicate effectively both verbally and written to provide clear direction to team members. Assign and instruct Guest Service Representatives to perform tasks and duties. Observe performance and encourage improvement.
· Greet guests with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate information.
· Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from the PMS. Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs. Non-verbally confirm the room number and rate. Provide welcome information as appropriate. Close out guest accounts at time of check out.
· Verify and input credit cards for authorization. Manage the front till. Handle cash make change and balance an assigned float. Accept and record vouchers and other forms of payment. Post charges to guest rooms.
· Promptly answer calls using a positive and clear voice. Retrieve messages and communicate the content to guests.
· Remain calm and professional at all times, including during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for the team and other employees.
· Assists in and perform basic security related tasks.
· Make reservations and motivate the team to consistently apply yield management principles and selling techniques.
· Assist with Accounts Receivable collection and reconciliations.
· Comply with financial and accounting procedures in relation to all Guest Services /Cashiering duties.
· Respond to guest needs ensuring special requests are met or communicated through to the appropriate departments with documentation and follow up to the guest or department.
· Ensure an effective relationship is maintained with Maintenance and Housekeeping regarding availability of rooms to maximize on rooms rented while ensuring guest satisfaction.
· Demonstrate proactive commitment, customer loyalty and the empowerment of motivated and innovative team members.
· Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
· Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
*Required Skills and Abilities:*
· Completion of secondary school is required.
· A university degree/college diploma in hotel management or related field is preferred.
· Two years? experience in a hotel setting, with front desk experience.
· Ability to do night audit.
· Night Audit Experience an asset.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
· Ability to effectively deal with all contacts, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
· Must have the ability to communicate in English.
· Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
· Ability to apply supervisory skills to plan, organize, direct, coach, train and discipline, as necessary.
