Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Office of health care professional. Ophthalmic or optical laboratory. Tasks: Administer eye drops, ointments and medications as directed by ophthalmologists. Assist health care professionals. Operate ophthalmic testing and measuring instruments. Record test results and medications given by ophthalmologists. Set up and dismantle equipment. Clean and maintain equipment. Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies. Maintain supplies. Maintain inventory of equipment. Perform general clerical duties. Take patients' general medical and ophthalmic history. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Organize and maintain inventory. Area of specialization: Ophthalmology.
