Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Clinical/medical laboratory technician. Work setting: Hospital medical laboratories. Tasks: Log patient samples and prepare them for testing. Perform blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Collect samples and perform other laboratory tests. Area of work experience: Quality assurance or control. Area of specialization: Clinical chemistry or biochemistry. Hematology. Medical chemistry. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently. Work under pressure. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Team player.
