Poseidon Ocean Systems is seeking a Production Manager that will report to the Operations Manager.
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production & shop activities at Poseidon. They will use their experience and knowledge to manage the production team, prioritize safety, as well as solve problems and find solutions to all types of challenges both in the field and in the shop. To be successful in this role, the individual must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, lead by example, and have a high attention to detail. They must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high levels of integrity and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
Manage Production employees & activities, including:
* Participate in the development of staff schedules & timesheet approvals
* Forecast staffing requirements based on production targets and forecasts
* Oversee physical production work, develop and enforce safe work procedures
* Issue materials and approved production drawings to the production staff as necessary
* Implement and enforce inventory control processes & procedures. Audit inventory variances and recommend improvements
* Develop & enforce tools management policies, forecast and action requests for new/replacement tools and other company assets
Manage Safety Programs & Activities, including:
* Obtain & Maintain OFA Level 2 Safety certification
* Forecast training/license requirements for staff safety tickets
* Participate in JHSC
* Contribute to safety programs and company policies
Encourage a positive work environment and culture for all employees
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Proven leadership skills, with the ability to lead by example
* Excellent mechanical aptitude
* A creative problem-solver, able to analyze a problem and implement improvements to prevent reoccurrence
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize
* Experience with an ERP or inventory control system
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Requirements:
* 3+ years of proven experience in a Supervisory role in a Production/Manufacturing environment
* 5+ years experience in a hands-on role in a mechanic shop, manufacturing, or mechanical parts setting
* Experience in Marine/Aquaculture an asset
* Valid BC Drivers? License required (class 5)
* Ticketed Journey Person in one of the following trades an asset: Heavy Duty Mechanic, Plumbing/Pipefitting/Mechanic/Millwright
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
