ETFO or OSSTF <p>Full Time First Nations Language Lead - Central SAT <p>Location To Be Determined by location of successful applicant <p>Terms and Conditions Will Be In Accordance with the Collective Agreement <p>This position will be posted on a 3 year interval <p>$57,601 - $114,290 annually* <p>The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board serves the communities of Kenora, Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Pickle Lake, Upsala, Savant Lake, Ear Falls, and Ignace with a system of 23 elementary and secondary schools, two board offices, and several alternative learning sites. The KPDSB serves approximately 5,000 kindergarten to grade 12 students, with another approximately 1000 adult alternative learning students. First Nation partnerships have established unique and authentic relationships within the KPDSB; approximately 54% of our students voluntarily self-identify as of Indigenous ancestry. The KPDSB has approximately 850 permanent and 400 casual and term-position staff.POSITION SUMMARY <p>The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is looking for a strong, dynamic individual with experience in educational administration and strong, innovative leadership in the area of Indigenous Education. Reporting to the Superintendent of Education, this incumbent will have exemplary interpersonal skills, foster system coherence, and will be accountable for: Development and implementation of language programs;<p> Implementation of Ontario Ministry of Education First Nations, Mtis, and Inuit Studies Curriculum, and curriculum revisions Grades K-12; <p> Implementation of the Ontario First Nation, Mtis and Inuit Education Policy Framework<p> Supporting the implementation of the Board strategic plan<p> Liaison with partners for development of Indigenous language programs and qualifications; <p> Connecting local treaties and Indigenous ways of knowing to the curriculumDevelopment of community-based Language Circles; Implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) Recommendations as they pertain to Language;<p> Support implementation of the Board Action Plan for FNMI Student Achievement and Well-Being;<p> Resource to the Boards Indigenous Education Advisory Committee (IEAC);<p> Reporting to the board, partners and stakeholders as required; and<p> Other duties as assigned. <p>Qualifications <p>The successful applicant must possess: Ontario College of Teachers certification (OCT);<p> An understanding of First Nation, Mtis and Inuit culture, beliefs and values and ways of knowing;<p> An understanding of and support for applicable board policies;<p> Experience in and working with First Nation communities;<p> Strong teaching background;<p> A valid drivers license;<p> Willingness to travel to local and remote communities;<p> Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. <p>Skills <p>Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: Knowledge of Anishinaabemowin;<p> Enjoys working with both adults and students;<p> Experience teaching at multiple grade levels;<p> Knowledge of and experience teaching the Ontario curriculum;<p> Demonstrate an understanding of complex issues of jurisdiction, intergovernmental relations, and history;<p> Strong interpersonal skills;<p> The ability to develop relationships;<p> Conflict resolution skills;<p> Highly motivated;<p> Experience in working with diverse groups;<p> Research skills; <p> Demonstrates initiative. <p>Applicants must include the names of three references, one of whom must be their most recent, direct supervisor and authorization for the Keewatin Patricia District School Board to contact the references under the terms of the M
