We invite you to use your skills with us and contribute to something meaningful and enduring.The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Central Engineering team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation.This permanent on-site position will be working a 2 week on/2 week off rotation at the Voisey's Bay mine siteAs a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide innovative engineering design solutions to operating and maintenance problems, technical support to operating plants and mines, technical direction to external engineering consultants & construction contractors.Additionally, in this position you will: Prepare engineering packages for operations, maintenance, and capital projects, utilizing good engineering practices and considering risk, while minimizing costs.Prepare accurate engineering design deliverables such as drawings, specifications, scopes of work, risk assessments and cost estimates. Stamp/seals designs/drawings prepared under their direction. Conduct field inspections, measurements and analysis. Prepares reports with action plans as required. Translate operating requirements into optimum designs, prepares contract specifications and makes technically accurate and feasible recommendations. Provide technical support to the operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable operation of equipment and recommendations for safety when required under relevant Acts and Legislation. Assure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations. Support development of scopes of work for contract engineering work with external engineering consultants. Provides technical direction to external engineering consultants and reviews the quality of their engineering deliverables. Effectively schedules, prioritizes, and manages tasks to meet commitments with customers.About You Education:Mechanical Engineering DegreeRegistered Professional EngineerExperience:Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.Skills:Has working experience with mechanical design codes, acts, regulations (mainly ASME, API, and CSA standards). Has working experience with mechanical design, analysis, and repair of various types of equipment (ventilation, conveyors, pumps, storage tanks, pressure vessels, piping, etc.). Has knowledge of material handling, mechanical infrastructure, corrosion mechanisms, FRP, etc.Has working experience with various underground and surface mining, and surface mechanical infrastructure.
