Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Professionalism in customer service. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Sitting. Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication. Flexibility. Judgement. Organized. Reliability. Experience: Experience an asset.
