<p><strong>Department mission</strong></p><p>Contribute to citizens? quality of life by enforcing Pointe-Claire by-laws and protecting Pointe-Claire territory with integrity and vigilance.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities and goals associated with the position <br></strong></p><p>Reporting to the Senior Dispatcher, the Telecommunications Operator at Inspection Public Security enforces telecommunications standards and guidelines under her or his responsibility. The Telecommunications Operator receives, records and transmits ? by telephone, two-way radio, email or telewriter ? complaints and requests originating from the City?s telephone switchboard, the public, and municipal employees, regarding the activities of departments, divisions and sections.</p><p></p><p>The main responsibilities are as follows:</p><p></p><ul><li>Receive telephone calls from the public concerning street conditions, broken water mains, lighting or traffic light system failures or any other problems related to municipal services or other utilities;</li><li>Record the types of calls, the time received and other relevant information on index cards and track the calls; take required steps to record calls automatically;</li><li>Forward incoming calls to appropriate individuals in accordance with priorities, by radiotelephone, telephone or telewriter;</li><li>See that all complaints are forwarded to the appropriate organizations and ensure follow-up;</li><li>Monitor alarm consoles for municipal buildings and surveillance cameras and advise the appropriate persons about malfunctions and activated alarms;</li><li>Compile data and prepare statistics about these activities;</li><li>Employ, as required, various office automation devices to carry out certain job-related tasks, using appropriate programming;</li><li>Perform all other related tasks.</li></ul><p></p><p><strong> </strong></p> <br> <p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Have a high school diploma;</li><li>No experience in a similar position is required for this position;</li><li>Be able to speak and write French, and to speak English;</li><li>Have an excellent knowledge of computer-based, office automation and system security tools;</li><li>Be able to work under pressure;</li><li>Demonstrate diligence and patience;</li><li>Have good geographical knowledge of the City and area served;</li><li>Have good analytical abilities and sound judgment.</li></ul>- LocationPointe-Claire, QC
