Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Outdoors. Hot. Noisy. Cold/refrigerated. Non-smoking. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Service attachments and working tools. Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Types of systems: Air conditioning system. Area of specialization: Diesel engines. Diagnostics. Brake system. Hydraulic system. Welding. Diesel engine repair specialization: Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Engine control system. Lubrication system. Cooling system. Powered equipment repair specialization: Hydraulic-operated working attachments. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Wheel-mounted vehicle suspension and steering. Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering. Mechanical transmissions. Hydraulic transmissions. Highway vehicle tires and wheels. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
