Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. Retirement home. Tasks: Administer medications. Conduct specimen collection. Ensure infection control. Monitor nutritional intake. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Train students, other technologists or nurses. Supervision: Committees. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Area of work experience: Environmental and occupational health. Emergency health care planning. Area of specialization: Geriatrics. Palliative care. Rehabilitation. Security and safety: Bondable. Basic security clearance. Criminal record check. Drug test. Immunization records. Tuberculosis test. Vulnerable sector check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Repetitive tasks. Physically demanding.
