Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Home care and visiting care agency. Various locations. Willing to relocate. Nursing home/home for the aged. Youth drop-in centre. Group home. Persons with an intellectual disability. Tasks: Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities. Perform other duties related to personal care. Supply and empty bed pans. Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse. Serve meal trays and feed patients. Weigh, lift, turn and position patients. Make beds and maintain patients' rooms. Bathe, dress and groom patients. Transport patients between care facilities. Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher. Answer call signals to determine patients' needs. Administer first aid in emergency situations. Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties. Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses. Food safety/handling skills. Administer bedside and personal care. Administer medications. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Ability to work independently. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
