Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Manufacture. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate. Type of materials: Aluminum alloys. Non-metallic materials. Steel, iron and heavy metals. Welding techniques: Resistance, spot or seam. Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Plasma arc welding (PAW). Fusion welds. Multipass. Brazing and soldering. Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine. Gas welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Machinery or equipment repair. Structural construction. Transportation/travel information: Travel expenses paid by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Overtime required.
