Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Hot. Tasks: Direct planting of trees, gardens and lawns. Hire, supervise and schedule staff. Organize planting of trees, gardens and lawns. Resolve work problems by providing technical advice to increase the value and functionality of a property. Schedule events, programs and activities. Schedule work. Plan and direct grounds maintenance. Plan and estimate labour and materials. Organize and direct construction of decks and decorative or retaining walls. Plan, manage and supervise landscape construction work. Maintain work records and logs. Read blueprints and drawings. Repair and maintain equipment. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Resolve work problems, provide technical advice and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Supervision: 3-4 people. 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) certification. Equipment and machinery experience: Chain saw. Pick-up truck. Small engine equipment. Sod cutter. Skidsteer. Area of work experience: Snow removal. Area of specialization: Grounds maintenance. Landscape construction. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Tight deadlines. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Ability to distinguish between colours.
