_*Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.*_
*FUNCTION & DUTIES:*
Under the authority of the Coordinator of Complementary and Compassionate School Services, the Social Worker is responsible for the following:
· Evaluates students presenting with abnormal social behavior through observation, interviews and psychosocial testing in order to diagnose the causes of the behaviour;
· Creates expertise reports based on their evaluation of the student;
· Develops concrete recommendations for the corrective programs concerning the student and works with a variety of school board and external organization staff members to coordinate its realization;
· Conducts individual or group meetings with students and communicates with the parents to offer help in dealing with the situation in order to ensure that the student reaches his full potential in matters of personal development and relations with his family and society;
· Supports and counsels Readaptation Officers in their dealings with the students to support that student to benefit fully from his educational experience;
· Participates in the creation, development and execution of prevention programs;
· Intervenes in emergency or crisis situations and proposes possible solutions;
· Keeps his/her files up to date as per their professional norms and policies of the school board;
· Any other related tasks as required by their supervisor
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
· Bachelor's degree with an appropriate specialty such as Social Work;
· Be a member of the Quebec Social Worker order
_The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board._
*REQUIREMENTS:*
· Fluency in two of the three working languages of the Board (Inuktitut, French, English);
· Able and willing to travel upon request;
· Capacity to work under pressure and in a multicultural environment
*CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:*
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2111: from $49,456 to $87,626 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
