<p>As a Library Technician II in The Parkland School Division, you will be part of enacting our vision, mission and foundational statements.<p>Vision <p>Our students possess the confidence, resilience, insight and skills required to thrive in and positively impact the world.<p><p>Mission <p>We assure supportive learning environments, meaningful experiences and healthy relationships that create opportunities to develop resilience, to gain diversity in perspectives and to achieve enduring success.<p><p>The Parkland School Division has a Temporary Part-Time (0.714 FTE) Library Technician II position available at Muir Lake School, in Stony Plain, Alberta.<p><p> <p>The successful candidate will work with staff to promote a love of reading, grow communication skills, resource the library with books and other learning materials, maintain the library space and work collaboratively with staff to facilitate cross-curricular learning in single and multi-age settings.<p>The successful candidate will also work as an education assistant, assisting students when possible. <p>Function and Purpose of Position <p>A Library Technician II will maintain the day to day operations of the library. You will work with the school community including staff and students, to support diverse learning in a welcoming cross-curricular atmosphere. As part of a collaborative team and with the ability to work independently, you will be successful in creating a learning commons for all.<p><p>Library Technician II?s may:<p>? Work under the direction of the Principal and/or designate <p>? Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team<p>? Must enjoy working with students and staff<p><p> <p>Learning Commons Resources and Instructional Support <p>? Management of literature including circulation, ordering and collection of materials and resources.<p>? Understanding of the Alberta Education document, Learning Commons Policy and Guidelines.<p>? Ability to create a positive environment that excites students.<p>? Support an inclusive forward thinking learning environment.<p>? Ability to network with others beyond the school setting.<p>? Familiarity with Maker Space and other innovative library practices.<p>? Ability to support instruction, research, literacy and learning in a digital/technology based and print-rich environment.<p>? Classifying and cataloguing new materials by assigning numbers, levels, subjects, etc.<p>? Prepare materials and resources for activities programmed and planned by, or in collaboration with, the classroom teachers.<p>Behaviour <p>? Ability to maintain a safe and secure environment for both students and staff through the application of de-escalation strategies and nonviolent crisis intervention techniques.<p>? Help encourage and maintain appropriate behavior for school<p><p>Student Assistance and Personal Care <p>? Provide support, assistance and supervision to students in a school setting.<p> <p>Communication and Reporting<p> ? Ability to build relationships with students and staff.<p>? Use technology to record evidence of learning to share with stakeholders<p>? Communicate with Principal or designate about progress of programming and maintain a record of learning activities and resources.<p>Supervise Students <p>? Provide assistance to students using the space and resources.<p>? Supervision will be required as directed by the Principal or designate<p>? Supervise small groups on field trips, in the learning commons, and in other learning spaces throughout the school setting<p>Student Personal Development <p>? Providing advice, assistance and direction to build student skills and knowledge.<p>? Tutor, mentor and coach students in the school setting<p><p>Other Duties <p>?
