Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Tasks: Clean and prepare surfaces. Cure freshly plastered surfaces. Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings. Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife. Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim. Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry. Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings. Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound. Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets. Install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation. Prepare wall and ceiling layouts. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Personal suitability: Flexibility. Team player. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations .
