Township of LangleyEngineering Technologist II(one position total from #24-U160 and #24-U159)Competition Number: 24-U159Employment Type: Regular Full-Time(starting date approximately January 6, 2025)Pay Rate: $44.22 - $52.21 per hour (5 steps, 2024 rates), plus benefitsHours of Work: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pmCompetition Opening Date: October 1, 2024Competition Internal Closing Date: October 9, 2024Competition External Closing Date: October 22, 2024Job OverviewThe Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Technologist II (one position total from #24-U159 and #24-U160) to join our team of professionals in the Public Works Division, Utilities Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Utilities Operations, in this unionized position you will coordinate assigned construction projects, develop work schedules and monitor progress and project costs.ResponsibilitiesPerform planning, design, estimating, inspection and review functions for municipal water and sanitary systems Prepare, review and maintain a variety of materials such as technical studies and status reports, correspondence, tender and project specifications Draft reports, contract documents, letters/memos and related correspondence including request for proposals and tenders Coordinate utilities programs and liaise with a variety of internal/external contacts, consultants, contractors and other agencies on engineering requirements, policies and related matters Respond to enquiries/complaints and provide solutions to a variety of situations Perform related work as requiredQualificationsGraduation from an institute of technology with a diploma in civil and structural technology, building technology, or related discipline, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus considerable related experience preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience Considerable knowledge of engineering principles, practices and techniques used, and experience with a variety of engineering software packages, databases, and utilities applications Sound knowledge of budget and standard costing fundamentals for operations projects and programs Ability to liaise and coordinate on major construction projects, contract documentation and administration of utilities operations projects Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with internal/external contacts, the public, consultants and contractorsRequired Certifications/LicensesCandidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver?s License.
