*Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Housekeeper/Cook Supply staff to join our team at Park Lawn Preschool Inc.. The Housekeeper/Cook Supply position will support all 3 of our child care centres located in the South Etobicoke area in the event that the permenant Housekeeper Cook is absent. The Housekeeper/Cook will be responsible for preparing and maintaining meals in compliance with Toronto Public Health regulations. This role includes ensuring meals are safe, nutritious, and developmentally appropriate for children ranging from toddlers to school-age. Additionally, the Housekeeper/Cook will occasionally support the needs of the children in the program.
*Key Responsibilities*
* *Meal Preparation*: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children, ensuring compliance with Toronto Public Health regulations.
* *Health & Safety*: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and food storage areas.
* *Allergy & Dietary Management*: Review and accommodate children?s dietary needs, allergies, and restrictions, ensuring all meals are safe for consumption.
* *Developmentally Appropriate Meals*: Prepare food that is suitable for different age groups, including toddlers and school-age children.
* *Inventory Management*: Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of food items.
* *Occasional Child Support*: Assist child care staff with supervising and supporting children as needed, including helping with activities, transitions, and meals.
* *Record Keeping*: Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and daily menu logs.
* *Collaboration*: Work closely with child care staff to ensure meal times are coordinated and that dietary needs are communicated effectively.
* *Compliance*: Stay up-to-date with food safety guidelines and regulations as set out by Toronto Public Health and ensure adherence to these standards.
*Qualifications*
* Experience in meal preparation and food handling, preferably in a child care or institutional setting.
* Knowledge of Toronto Public Health food safety standards and guidelines.
* Current Food Handler Certification is required.
* Strong understanding of dietary needs, allergies, and food restrictions.
* Ability to prepare developmentally appropriate meals for different age groups.
* Previous experience working with children is an asset.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
*Working Conditions*
* Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods during meal preparation.
* Work in a child care environment with occasional interaction and support for children.
* Flexibility to adjust work hours based on the needs of the centre and children?s meal schedules.
