Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of workpieces . Inspect final products. Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Test prototypes and production tools. Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of metal, wood, plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates. Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Tool and die fabrication experience: Gauge blocks. Jigs and fixtures. Metal cutting, forming or bending dies. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector. Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Handling heavy loads. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Own tools/equipment: Tools. Experience: 5 years or more.
