<p><strong>The Opportunity</strong></p> <p>The Electrical Service Field Technician will be responsible for the dismantling and reassembly of rotating equipment. The Technician will ensure quality and customers are the basis of all actions.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>The Role</strong></p> <ul> <li>Perform emergency and preventive maintenance and installation on a 24/7 on-call basis with regional responsibility.</li> <li>Be responsible for performing on-site or in-house servicing and repair of company products.</li> <li>Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment.</li> <li>Medium and Low Voltage Switchgear</li> <li>Medium Voltage Terminations</li> <li>Protection relays</li> <li>Control systems and PLC</li> <li>LV Drives</li> <li>Metering solutions</li> <li>Transformer testing</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Dismantle, troubleshoot, investigate, repair and re-assemble all types of electrical and mechanical apparatus in an offsite or ?field? location.</li> <li>Work from drawings, sketches, schematic layouts, test specifications, written or verbal instructions from supervision.</li> <li>Dismantling and assembly of rotating equipment: <ul> <li>Complete service order card.</li> <li>Measure all mechanical fits.</li> <li>Determine bearing type, size, seals, shields etc.</li> <li>Document bearing and arrangement</li> <li>Remove and install bearings.</li> <li>Identify parts for proper assembly</li> <li>Properly store and clean parts.</li> <li>Withdraw materials</li> <li>Perform grit blasting of equipment</li> <li>Re-assemble</li> <li>Paint</li> <li>Perform electrical tests (ie. Meggar surge comparison, hypo, core lost)</li> <li>Perform final run tests and vibration checks</li> </ul> </li> <li>Low Voltage AC Three Phase Winding <ul> <li>Perform core loss and loop tests</li> <li>Perform electrical tests and record (eg. Surge comparisons, PI meggar)</li> <li>Perform dip and bake operations</li> </ul> </li> <li>Transformers (Dry Type Only) <ul> <li>Perform electrical tests (meggar, TTR)</li> <li>Dismantle transformers</li> <li>Assist winders in all aspects of transformer work.</li> <li>Reassemble</li> </ul> </li> <li>Mechanical Operations:</li> <li>Perform dynamic balancing in plant balancing stand.</li> <li>Perform dynamic balancing of assembled equipment</li> <li>Perform field vibration analysis and balancing</li> <li>Record vibration data</li> <li>Perform basic stick welding and brazing.</li> <li>Fabricate necessary tooling to assist in work.</li> <li>Dismantle and assemble dynamitic couplings</li> <li>Supervise rigging and equipment handling during in plant repairs and overhauls</li> <li>Safety and General Housekeeping <ul> <li>Comply with plant safety policy and report all accidents</li> <li>Keep personal tools and shop tools in safe and good operating condition</li> <li>Ensure proper use and safe operation of all equipment and processes</li> <li>Inspect, troubleshoot and make necessary repairs to all shop equipment</li> <li>Assist with general housekeeping of plant</li> </ul> </li> <li>Training and Procedures <ul> <li>Ensure compliance withal QA requirement and shop standards</li> <li>Report problems to lead hand/supervisor</li> <li>Obtain approval prior to job implantation</li> <li>Inspect all jobs prior to shipping</li> <li>Prepare equipment for shipping</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>The Candidate</strong></p> <ul> <li>3-5 years in a similar role or equivalent experience</li> <li>Journeyman Red Seal Electrician Certificate or Electrical Engineering Technologist</li> <li>3+ years of field service repair, commissioning, upgrades, and customer service experience within the Electrical Distribution service field.</li> <li>Electro-mechanical or other electronics related equipment knowledge a strong asset.</li> <li>Technical education or trade certificate would be an asset</li> <li>Hands on Electro-Mechanical aptitude</li> <li>Ability to use and interpret drawings and manuals</li> <li>Gener- LocationKirkland Lake, ON
