Water Operator II(Regular full time - 40 hours per week)The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 22,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay. The Engineering & Municipal Operations Department, Water Treatment Division, seeks an individual with outstanding work ethic and a safety-first attitude to join their team. The Water Operator II is a dynamic team member of the Water Treatment team, responsible for performing diverse field and technical work related to the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the water treatment plant systems and infrastructure to ensure the adequate availability of a safe drinking water supply system for human consumption and firefighting activities. This includes water quality and sampling and lab analysis; process monitoring; evaluation and control; residuals management; and equipment isolations and shutdowns. The role assists with the operation of SCADA to monitor system-operating data; creates and maintains operating records and identifies trends; responds to emergency alarms and calls from the public related to water services. Requirements:Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work plus some related experience working with water treatment systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. EOCP Water Treatment Level II EOCP Water Distribution Level I Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair and installation of water meters, valves and related equipment, fittings and services. Considerable knowledge of the safety precautions and hazards applicable to the work. Working knowledge of the water treatment and distribution system. Sound knowledge of SCADA networks and ability to use SCADA to monitor system-operating data. Ability to troubleshoot routine system operating issues and provide related information and assistance. Ability to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing and installing water meters, valves and related waterworks fittings and services. Ability to perform all servicing, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and related duties with minimal supervision. Ability to assist in the inspection, maintenance and operation of water treatment systems. Ability to prepare and maintain records related to the work. Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to use the software applications applicable to the work. Ability to work cooperatively and amicably in a team or independently environment with a safety-first attitude. Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC driver?s license.The hourly wage of this unionized position is $43.00 hourly (2024 rates) with comprehensive benefits offered.
