Building Official 2 (RFT)Job order - J0824-1340 - Regular Full-TimeTitle Building Official 2 (RFT)Category Building, Bylaw & LicensingCity Port Moody, British Columbia, CanadaJob Description Building Official 2 (RFT)The City of Port Moody has a regular, full-time opportunity for an experienced Building Official 2 to perform inspections, interpret codes and standards and provide technical knowledge and expertise to plans and projects in the building permit and city bylaw processes. This position will review building plans and inspect a variety of buildings and building projects to ensure compliance with bylaws and to enforce building, plumbing and sprinkler code standards. The Building Official 2 may assist with projects and will prepare correspondence related to plans and projects while ensuring accurate and updated records and files. This position provides customer service for the building permit and bylaw process.Basic Qualifications (qualifications in progress or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered):Completion of a Trades certificate (recognized four year trades apprenticeship) or Building Technology diploma Level 2 Building or Plumbing Inspector certification from the Building or Plumbing Officials Association of BC Minimum three years of job related experience as a Municipal Building Official or qualified Trades Journeyman Experience with a variety of construction types such as wood frame, concrete and steel, structural steel frame or masonry Knowledge of sprinkler, fire alarm, HVAC and electrical systems Strong independent judgement and creative decision-making skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and access to a vehiclePlease note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to receipt of a satisfactory police information check and a satisfactory driver's abstract.
