The Niagara Falls Public Library is seeking a Full-Time Operations Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day customer-facing operations of all library locations. The Operations Supervisor acts as the key liaison responsible for operationalizing cross-departmental initiatives.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to exceptional service, planning and organization, performance management, strong work ethic, and attention to
detail. This individual will have experience with scheduling platforms and principles, as well as proven ability to implement strategies? that promote high-performing work environments whilst optimizing resources and workflows.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Leadership:*
· Collaborates with management and staff teams to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of system-wide library services, in order to fulfill the Library's strategic objectives.
· Acts as the liaison between management and CSP staff through regular communication channels to relay policy, procedural and organizational updates, keeping everyone well-informed and maintaining system-wide consistency.
· Proactively identifies concerns and recommends solutions to management in order to improve all areas of service delivery and internal procedures (public services, programming, collections, marketing, etc.)
· Ensures effective communication and collaboration across all departments and locations to maintain operational efficiency and consistency.
· Provides mentorship and support to new and current CSP staff to foster their professional growth and development, and ensure they feel confident and empowered in their roles.
· Monitors and interprets operational and service trends, including those from other organizations, and ensures relevant adaptations.
· Stays abreast of professional and community knowledge, in order to enhance services and the Library's community role
*Management: *
· Develops and implements efficient scheduling plans, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet service demands, and coordinates with other departments to optimize resource allocation.
· Ensures the consistent, effective and customer-friendly delivery of all public services.
· Operationalizes service changes and innovations.
· Collects and analyzes data on library usage, program attendance, and customer satisfaction to evaluate service performance to ensure consistency and relevance to the communities served.
· Oversees and addresses performance management and behavioral management of CSP staff in conjunction with HR.
· Manages the effective performance of all staff directly or indirectly supervised.
· Participates in the budget process to ensure adequacy of resources to execute objectives and monitors assigned budgets.
· Ensures effective operation of physical plant and equipment.
· Prepares statistics and reports as required.
· Shares accountability for ensuring a safe and respectful workplace.
· Other duties consistent with job responsibilities.
*Skills, Knowledge, Training:*
· Post-secondary diploma in Library and Information Technician program or a combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience.
· Minimum of 3 years? experience in a supervisory or managerial role with direct reports.
· 5 years' relevant experience in a customer service setting.
· Valid G-class License and access to a vehicle.
· Demonstrated expertise in applying supervisory principles to foster a high-performing work environment while optimizing resources and workflows through effective scheduling and planning.
· Demonstrated expertise in applying performance and behavioural management principles to foster a high-performing work environment.
· Demonstrated expertise with scheduling platforms and scheduling principles in order to optimize resources and workflows.
· Demonstrated ability to train and supervise staff in service excellence.
· Demonstrated familiarity with current technology.
