Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Cold/refrigerated. Hot. Noisy. Outdoors. Wet/damp. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Roads and bridges. Sidewalks and curbs. Various locations. Tasks: Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials. Direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade. Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement. Operate power vibrators to compact concrete. Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification. Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools. Instruct apprentices. Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces. Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures. Estimate costs and materials. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Type of materials: Hardners and epoxies. Light weight concrete. Mastic flooring. Reinforcing membrane and protective covering. Security and safety: Bondable. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail.
