The City of Port Coquitlam is currently seeking a positive, energetic and customer focused, individual to work in our Finance Department as the Customer Service Representative - Taxes. Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Services, the incumbent will perform a variety of customer service and basic bookkeeping tasks to ensure the timely, accurate and efficient billing and processing of the City's main revenue streams including but not limited to property taxes and utility payments. It is anticipated this assignment will continue for approximately six months.Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:Provide information and assistance by responding to inquiries from a variety of customers, including members of the public, contractors, professionals and internal staff Receives payment for a variety of accounts and services such as taxes and utilities Balances monies received to daily transactions in accordance with established procedures Prepares and maintains a variety of correspondence, files, and reports; and compiles information, statistics, communication materials and other documents related to the workThe successful candidate for this position will have:You are an administrative whiz with thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation supplemented by post-secondary courses in business communications You have at least six months experience with cash handling, point of sale systems or have successfully completed a basic bookkeeping course You have a typing speed of at least 45accurate wpm You have strong Microsoft Office skills You have the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the organization You have exceptional customer service skills with at least two years? experience in a customer service role that has been supplemented with conflict resolution training You exude positive energy and believe that anything is possibleWhat we offer:A bi-weekly salary starting at $2204.88 (2024 rates) We take our work seriously but not ourselves We have a positive attitude about the work we perform We care deeply about our community Our organization is the ideal size for you to make a difference and have an impact We have a strong learning culture and want our people to grow and succeed We are a living wage employer A diverse, inclusive, and supportive workplace A fun, vibrant, and supportive team Qualified individuals are encouraged to apply online by November 8, 2024 at www.portcoquitlam.ca/cityjobs quoting competition number 24-141e.
