Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work setting: Independently owned business. Tasks: Install and overhaul heating systems. Troubleshoot heating systems. Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components. Provide customer service. Handle, recover and store refrigerants. Repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation or heat pump systems. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Ensure health and safety regulations are followed. Supervision: Refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics. Electrical mechanics. Apprenticeship training: Level two apprenticeship training. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Heat pump. Built up (split system). Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Vehicle supplied by employer. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Attention to detail.
