Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Installation. Urban area. Service. Various locations. Repair. On-site fabrication. Retrofit. Tasks: Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Estimate costs and materials. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Specialization or experience: Custom sheet metal items. Decorative metal sheets. Dust and fume collection system. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Hard hat. Tools. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Excellent oral communication. Organized. Team player.
