Temporary employees will have their applications considered prior to external applicants.Closing Date:November 6, 2024, 4:00pm<p>Full Time Equivalent:1.0 FTE Assignment:Effective date to be determined.<p>Working 8 hours a day, 5 days a weekSite and LocationPlant Operations East Kingston, ONAbout the ALCDSBThe Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board serves approximately 12,000 students, employs over 1,400 full-time equivalent staff, and covers a geographical area of more than 16,000 square kilometers (Whitney in the North, Picton in the South, Trenton in the West, and Kingston in the East).<p>The ALCDSB builds faith-filled learning communities where each member is loved, inspired, and successful.Position SummaryReporting to the Plant Operations Manager, The Maintenance Person - Carpenter is responsible performing a wide variety of duties related to the repair, maintenance, installation and construction of interior and exterior components and contents of school structures and other Board facilities. This would include, but is not limited to school fixtures and equipment, school grounds, and associated items as they apply to the carpentry trade. Qualifications Valid General Carpenter trade certificate issued by the Ontario Ministry of Trades/ Skilled Trades Ontario.<p> Three (3) years experience in general carpentry, construction, or related industry, or minimum<p> three (3) years experience in construction or maintenance of timber framed buildings. Sound knowledge of general construction codes and regulations.<p> Excellent knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Ontario Building Code.<p> An extensive general knowledge of building and equipment maintenance and repair work.<p> Must possess a valid drivers license in order to travel and provide service throughout the district.<p>What you would bring to the team<p>The Board is seeking candidates who demonstrate the following core competencies:Communication <p>Shares and receives information and ideas in a variety of ways and adapts to the needs of the audience to ensure the message is understood.<p>Innovation <p>Creates, develops and implements new processes or services with the aim of improving the learning community for all.<p>Interpersonal Relations <p>Displays characteristics and personal attributes that enhance communication and interactions.
