The position performs skilled graphical presentation of work to illustrate data , liaises with a variety of internal and external contacts, and provides guidance to community members.The position reports to the Planner II - Community Programs, in the Street Activities Branch. The Planning Assistant III works with community members, stakeholders and partners.Specific Duties & Responsibilities Supports Community Programs team with the coordination of the Temporary Street Art, Placemaking, and Street Horticulture Stewardship programs. Performs project/site surveys, field checks and responds to partner enquiries and 3-1-1 requests. Performs technical work such as mapping, graphical presentations, data collection, and inventory of material for programs. Serves as primary contact for selected programs and projects within the Community Programs team. Engages with internal and external partners, tracks and maintains expenses, and prepares and distributes public information. Ensures that applications, contracts, proposals, expenses, and other project documentation are properly entered into organizational databases. Responds to a high volume of public inquiries and engages with relevant stakeholders, partners and contractors and support to successfully deliver projects within City?s regulatory requirements. Works with variety of community members, including visual artists with diverse backgrounds such as urban youth and Indigenous artists Provides support with public and stakeholder engagement processes. Provides logistical support including delivery of equipment or supplies and support navigating City processes Maintains deadlines and deliverables for multiple projects and communicate deadlines and key deliverable with artists, business partners and team Manage large database and ensure data entry accuracy and quality Supports in the administration of the Community Programs program areas including team building, file management (VanDocs), creating and updating program charters and work plans. Other duties/responsibilities as requiredQualifications Education and Experience: Completion of Grade 12, or equivalent in Technical school supplemented with courses in graphics, commercial art or related courses, and some experience with respect to municipal engineering, program administration, art education, urban planning, landscape architecture, urban design, or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Sound knowledge of the guidelines and regulations governing assigned programs. Sound knowledge of layout work, report design and reproduction of graphical presentation of data and planning projects. Ability to do survey work and mapping. Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications Some knowledge of drafting and architectural design. Ability to provide graphical presentations and reports related to the work.
