Mechanic Apprentice - Fleet Services(6 Year Term)Keep the wheels turning! Kickstart your mechanic career with us! As a Mechanic Apprentice in our Fleet Services team, you?ll gain hands-on experience across a range of vehicles and equipment, from cars and heavy-duty trucks to firefighting apparatus and parks machinery. With guidance from experienced professionals, you?ll develop skills in preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repair processes. Learn to troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems?all while supporting the safe, efficient operation of the City?s essential services.Our Fleet Mechanic Apprentices work Monday to Friday on day/afternoon shift rotation with every second Friday off when on the afternoon shift. You will be required to work in the Main Garage as well as in the field at various locations such as: Glenmore Landfill, Parks, Gravel Pit etc. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of Heavy Mechanical Foundations Certificate or enrolled in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Apprenticeship or Truck and Transport Mechanic Apprenticeship or equivalent BC Driver?s License - Class 5 Experience Attention to Detail Problem Solving Service Excellence TeamworkGrow your career in an organization that supports employee work-life balance and career and professional development. This is a CUPE bargaining unit position with an hourly rate progressing from $34.93 to $41.32 plus 14% in lieu of vacation, statutory pay, other paid leaves fringe benefits and premiums which increases to 17% after 6 months full time equivalent.
