Demands, duties, qualifications Job SummaryThis is an advanced clinical leadership position with a specialization in Neuropsychology. The Psychologist provides neuropsychological assessment services to inpatients and clients of the medicine program primarily but also for other areas across Eastern Health. The Psychologist develops, implements, and evaluates neuropsychological assessment protocols for people with a variety of difficulties including but not limited to traumatic brain injury, seizures, strokes, profound movement disorders, and other cognitive difficulties. This position includes the supervision of a Psychometrist and includes taking responsibility for the Psychometrist's cognitive assessments and report writing. The Psychologist communicates assessment findings and diagnosis to other psychologists, physicians, teams, families and patients/clients. Supervision of provisionally registered doctoral level psychologists and interns is expected as well as assisting in the development and coordination of clinical placements for students and interns. Work also involves maintaining professional standards and professional development, acting as a resource for other health care professionals, advising on and participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures including risk management, quality improvement and workload issues. This position reports to the division manager for Neurology and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology for professional integrity and practice issues.Job DemandsBy applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Occasionally, there is lifting or physical strength required, less than 10 lbs for files, boxes, or equipment.Regularly sits; occasionally works in awkward/cramped positions, and stands to facilitate or teach groups.Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.A higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.Job QualificationsGraduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required. A specialization in Neuropsychology is preferred.Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.Graduate course work and supervised experience in neuropsychological assessment with an adult population is required.Previous acute care experience is preferred.Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferredExhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.Possessed strong leadership and supervisory sk
