We are the largest employer in the Comox Valley with over 1900 employees and provide a comprehensive educational program to approximately 10,500 students from Strong Start to Grade 12 in 14 elementary schools, 2 community schools, 3 secondary schools, 2 alternate schools, and a distributed learning school. Our annual operating budget is roughly $110 million.<p>We are seeking candidates for our Elementary and Secondary Principal eligibility pool to fill anticipated vacancies in the near future. Successful applicants will remain in the eligible candidate pool for a two year period and may be extended at the discretion of the superintendent.<p>Education, Experience and Abilities a Masters Degree and a valid membership with the Teacher Regulation Branch of the BC Ministry of Education<p> a commitment to a consultative, collaborative, teamwork approach involving students, parents, school staff and the broader community<p> a commitment to supporting the interests of the Board and the District<p> a recent record of teaching excellence and leadership<p> an understanding of the important role a full range of educational programs play in the growth and development of students<p> an inclusive mindset with strong advocacy for students with diverse needs<p> essential skills in technology<p> an ability to motivate staff and be an advocate for staff development based on school needs<p> a commitment to ongoing personal and professional development<p> an ability to establish and maintain a positive, cooperative, caring environment in a school<p> patterns of successful experience in different educational settings<p> an understanding of, and commitment to the First Peoples Principles of Learning<p> successful implementation and adherence to the Professional Standards for BC Educators<p> effective problem-solving, conflict management and mediation skills<p> friendliness, good humour, flexibility, enthusiasm, forthrightness, openness and honesty<p> commitment to transparency and accountability at all levels<p> strong organizational and management skillsIf you are an exceptional educational leader who embody the core values of integrity, respect and diversity and employ best practice instructional strategies based on a student centered approach to leadership, we would like to hear from you!<p>To Apply:<p>School District 71 (Comox Valley) is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island on the unceded traditional territory of the K'moks First Nation.
