Since day one, SPS has been intentional about building a culture that is inclusive, respectful and supportive, with a strong focus on employee wellness and career development.POSITION OVERVIEW: SPS has an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst 2 to join our growing Office of Chief Constable Bureau. This position is responsible for translating large amounts of business data into plain language for non- information technology (IT) users to analyze and make business decisions. The incumbent will gather and interpret operational data using statistical techniques to examine past business performance and provide reports. The successful incumbent will identify data patterns and provide insights to enhance business decision making in business planning, process improvement as well as solution assessment. The successful incumbent will be responsible for a variety of functions including but not limited to:Completes exploratory data analysis, confirmatory data analysis, and/or qualitative analysis as required. Making strategic recommendations to support the business. Enhance operational policies, interpret data and analyze results. Utilize databases and data collection systems to optimize statistical efficiency and quality. Filter and clean data to locate and correct code problems. Locate and define new process improvement opportunities. Performs complex data analysis with regard to client requests and develops rules and methodologies for effective data management. Analyze data with standard statistical methods, interpret results, and provides written summaries of data analysis. Work with others to design and develop statistical analyses which address projected research questions. Provide support and guidance to junior analysts. Perform other related duties as assigned. Our successful candidate will be knowledgeable in statistical analysis related activities with the ability to estimate numerical data, analyze large amounts of data to draw conclusions, clearly present ideas and findings, and translate data into understandable documents. The incumbent will be organized and solutions-focused with an ability to think critically and efficiently. Our candidate will thrive in a fast- paced and collaborative environment with an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with users, team members, and key stakeholders.APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field by a recognized educational institution plus 3 years of related experience Experience in the use of modern statistical, analytical, and business intelligence tools such as: SAS, SPSS, Cognos, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlikview Experience in the use of at least one data programming language such as: R, Python, SQL Experience in using statistical packages for analyzing datasets such as: Excel, SPSS Experience within a policing and/or public sector organization is considered an asset. Experience with SAS Viya is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
