Job details
Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. At heights. Work setting: Installation. Shop fabrication. Service. Various locations. Repair. Tasks: Calculate heating and cooling loads. Design duct systems. Manufacture and assemble different prefabricated fibreglass elements. Manufacture and assemble water evacuation systems for buildings. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction. Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Operate laser cutters. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Schedule work. Develop computerized pattern and layout. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Estimate costs and materials. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes.
