Education: Bachelor's degree. Audiology/audiologist. Hearing instrument specialist. Tasks: Administer evaluative tests. Administer tests using equipment, instruct patients on test procedures and record results, and monitor, check and calibrate auditory equipment. Develop information materials for patients. Examine adult clients to assess hearing loss, recommend type of hearing instrument, take earmold impressions and perform follow-up examinations and readjustments. Examine the patient. Follow through on treatment programs with patients. Make decisions on tests and procedures. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices. Order and purchase equipment. Confer with other health professionals. Process files and paperwork. Take earmold impressions and fit and adjust hearing instruments. Order supplies and equipment. Personal suitability: Punctuality. Client focus.
